The Application of Counselling Skills when working with Bereavement & Loss

This module is open to nurses, social workers, ministers of religion, consellors, medical practitioners, funeral directors, anyone working with newly bereaved people and people interested in learning about bereavement support. In collaboration with York St John University- 200 study hours, 20 credits at level 2.

Accredited by Teesside University and affords 20 CAT points. The theory week covers aspects of palliative care and is followed by placements and study days.

An Introduction to Palliative Care for HCA's and Auxiliaries

This 5 weeks evening course is aimed at auxiliaries and HCA's working in all areas to give them increased knowledge of the principles of palliative care, the course is designed to link theory with practice. Will cover: sympton control issues, advanced care planning, maligant & non malignant disease, communication skills and the last 48 hours

CBT in palliative care: basic skills. 2 days with a follow up day in June

This course is primarily for health care clinicians working in palliative care with a generic role in providing psychological support. It will combine didactic and experiential teaching and provide opportunities to practice CBT skills. The 2 days are followed by a 3rd day (June 21st). The 3 day course is designed to introduce healthcare professionals to CBT skills, to enhance their usual practice with their patients.
